Saturday post - it's ALMOST NEW YEAR!

Morning all,

Hope you've had a good week and not been too badly affected by the usual gamut of bugs and/or the snow, sleet, hail and icy conditions experienced since Christmas.

Me? I've used the weather as an excuse to stay in and craft! Works for me!!! Here's my latest effort, for last week's LIM sketch which (because of Christmas) runs for two weeks ...... it's my third entry so I thought I would take some liberties with the sketch - now hoping I haven't gone too far!

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White 15cm square, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two white card panels cut to 14cm square
  • One pearlised grey card panel cut to 13½cm square
  • Using a square die I cut two panels out of my grey card panel, as per the sketch below
  • Washi tape used to mask off a border
  • Distress Inks in tumbled glass and stormy sky applied using a mini blending tool and foam pad
  • Kaisercraft mini grid image stamped using Memento London fog ink
  • Kaisercraft rocks image stamped using Ranger Archival cobalt blue ink
  • Kaisercraft stains images stamped using Tim Holtz Distress mixed media ink in hickory smoke and black soot
  • Anita's sentiment stamped using the Black soot from the above ink pad

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 360/361 - SKETCH (see below) - 3rd entry - I'm hoping that this is deemed to be CAS enough as there's more than 50% white space .. albeit it's actually GREY space!!!
  2. QKR Stampede - challenge No. 276 - ANYTHING GOES (there IS an optional twist which I didn't use)
  3. That's Crafty - December 22nd challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Creative Knockouts - challenge No. 226 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Little Miss Muffet - challenge No. 179 - ANYTHING GOES

In case I don't see you again this year!

Welcome to Friday .... in that limbo time between Christmas and New Year!

Morning all,

As the year draws to a close I'm starting (no, NOT Christmas cards again!) on my 2018 ATC's, as many of you will recall, I swap with a buddy on the Isle of Skye. Earlier this year we decided to swap themes instead of materials as we'd been doing the materials thing for so long. I sent off my January swaps along with my Christmas card so this one is actually for February's theme of "Transport" and I have to say that the sentiment, route 66 logo and the map background are NBUS - Darnell would be so proud!

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in white and navy
  • Paper Artsy map background from HPXT01 stamped using Memento London fog ink
  • Stampers Anonymous car, sentiment and route 66 logo all stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils (ochre for roads, blue around the logo and green for the wooded areas) to give a little colour and interest.
  • Once assembled I used a Tsukineko gelly roll gel pen in white to doodle a border

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Pixie's Crafty Workshop - challenge No.313 & 314 - USE SNIPPETS
  2. The Paper Shelter - Christmas break challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Water Cooler Wednesday - challenge No. 150 - MASCULINE
  4. Cute Card Thursday - challenge No. 510 - ANYTHING GOES

Over the Christmas break we usually exchange Secret Santa gifts with our surrogate family, it's an afternoon and evening of chat, laughter, food, drink and silly games! Everyone dresses up and the daftest game currently available is usually purchased by someone, this years was a doozie ..... check out the pic

Ready to play .....
The game? "Say it don't spray it" .... apparently you have to read a card aloud but with a mouthguard in place - harder than it sounds, as it happens!

Image result for say it don't spray it
Man down! The antlers? Part of another game, a kind of festive hoop toss .. over the antlers!
Here's another version of how the above game MIGHT be played!!

Surrogate grand dog didn't miss out on the fun either
Imagine our surprise to walk home in this!!! A white Christmas .... just a little late!
Sadly, instead of waking to a winter wonderland, this was the sight greeting us
Oh well, undoubtedly easier to move about in than the winter wonderland scenario!
Discovered I was showCASed over at Simply Less Is More this week too - thanks ladies, much appreciated.

Welcome to the midweek lull between Christmas and New Year!

Morning,

Hope you all had a brilliant Christmas and Boxing Day ... now, what to do between now and New Years Eve besides try to polish off that MONSTER turkey! What's your favourite way to eat leftover turkey? In our house we're partial to both turkey sandwiches and turkey curry so ... I expect at least two meals will consist of those ... but we only bought a turkey crown this year (there's only the two of us).

Another way to fill in the lull is to hit the ToC ..... especially if you got new stash from Santa (or one of his little elves!)

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:

  • Creative Expressions (CEC830 Faded Fauna borders) stamped using Versafine majestic blue ink
  • Paper Artsy splatter (HPXT01) stamped using Memento London fog ink
  • Happy Little Stampers sentiment (Mixed Media Fun) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Narrow white grosgrain ribbon attached (between the two border images) using double sided tape
