Well, it's the start of another weekend! Woo Hoo!

Morning all,

Well, what a mixed week we've had weather wise? I appears some people have even had the snow featured on my card below .. hope there's not much of it left if you were one of those affected.

We've had more sunshine than snow, it has to be said! Still, I felt I would put the snowy weather to good use and make a Christmas card!

Easy like Sunday morning .....

Morning,

Still wrestling with my fab new polychromos pencils and thought I would try colouring cats - well!! It turned in to an exercise in herding cats! Plainly, I know squat about cat colouring options! Check out my cute cats .. well, the image is cute if the colouring ain't! I wanted my cats to be different colours but I don't know much about cats - guess the one on the left is my version of tortoiseshell!

The front and back of my card and the front of my envelope
The inside of my card and the reverse of my envelope
Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of 300gsm white card cut to 13½cm square
  • One piece of 300gsm red card cut to mat the above leaving a 1.6mm border
  • Snippets of card in white, black and red for the image and sentiment panels
  • Taping the Ranger stencil (new stash and from set #24) in place I applied Distress Inks in candied apple and picked raspberry using a Tim Holtz mini blender.
  • Once dry I gave it a quick squirt of Crafters Companion Spray and Shine to stop my ink running for the next step .... then I taped the stencil in the exact same place as before.
  • Liquitex Basics gloss gel medium applied through the stencil using a palette knife and then set aside to dry to a lovely gloss finish
  • Posh Impressions sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black on to the insert/reverse of card, envelope and snippet of white card which I then trimmed and matted on to first black and then red, leaving 1.6mm borders
  • Once my gel medium was fully dry I trimmed it and matted on to black and then red, to match my sentiment
  • I added three faux crystal gemstones (also new stash) and the card front was finished .. I felt the other parts needed a little more than just the sentiment so ... I rummaged through my stash and found ... Dina Wakelys grungey heart set - stamped using Versafine satin red - PERFECT (IMHO)

Welcome to another weekend ...

Hi there,

Another weekend is stretching out in front of us - isn't it amazing how we look forward to two full days and yet, come Sunday night, wonder how two full days flashed past? Or is it just an age thing?

Anyhoo, here's a couple of projects I DID manage to fit in to today! The first one is a new home card, I only had two but then a pal came along and bought one of them so I thought I should make another.

  • Snippets of card in white and blue
  • Hero Arts row of houses and Imagine That sentiments stamped using Versafine inks in Onyx black and smokey grey
  • Using Faber Castel Polychromos pencils I added sky shades and lights at windows along with some "doors". I've had a good week, it was Bank Holiday on Monday and Tuesday saw me enjoying a day out with a pal, I also fitted in a hair appointment, dinner with a pal and today I've a coffee meet with another pal - all go at the purple palace.

That said, you know me ..... I seldom miss the opportunity to craft so I'd like to share a make with you today. Think this one will end up being for a young (male) teen, whaddya think?

And a Christmas card make .. in an attempt to get ahead of the game in 2017! I thought it was time to get out my alcohol markers as they've been a bit neglected of late - in favour of coloured pencils! I also needed to try out some new cardstock from Xerox, Colotech 300gsm. I've been using Rymans 200gsm so this IS an upgrade though I have yet to try any watercolouring using it ..... the real reason I'm venturing away from Rymans.
