Whoop de doo .... it's another weekend!

Morning all,

WARNING: Photo heavy post - you might need coffee before reading!

Thank you to my new follower, Sam, welcome, hope you will stop by again soon.

I started my craft shares today by making what might be termed a masterboard ... I hesitate to call it so though, as it IS only brayered paint rather than mixed media piece with stamping, stencilling and the like but - you call it what you want (as long as you keep it polite!)

Simply brayering fresco dolly mixture, squid ink and orchid paints, whilst still leaving some white space
... I then set it aside to dry
Then it was on to cutting up my piece .. which was only a little larger than A5, I wondered just how many projects I could make with it. My first card is a little different from my usual, these days, not even a little bit CAS really!!! That said, I really enjoyed the experience and the image is FAB (Moth fab in fact!!!)

My card
And a closer view of my image panel - without the
reflective glare from the camera flash

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White 12½cm square, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Grey card and Costco double sided card cut to fit and distressed with Ranger Archival jet black ink which I "swiped" down the panels
  • I cut a panel from my masterboard and stamped my Stampotique design (Moth Fab) on it using Ranger Archival jet black in, stamping a second time on to white card
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour image and, once finished I fussy cut round her .... not worrying too much if I snipped a bit off the dangly bits (from her hair and skirt) as I already had those stamped on the masterboard panel
  • I stamped my Stamplorations coffee ring (from Holiday Artsy) and my Kaisercraft large coffee ring (from the set entitled "Stains") using Ranger Archival watering can ink
  • Grey grosgrain ribbon attached using double sided tape
  • Dimensional foam tape used to attach my image panel to card base
  • For the insert, back of my card and my envelope I stamped the sentiment from Happy Little Stampers Butterfly Birthday using Memento tuxedo black ink

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Addicted to Stamps - challenge No. 161 - Have a Heart .. check out Moth Fab's bag
  2. Corrosive Challenge - challenge No. 2 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Love2Create - challenge No. 5 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  4. Get Creative - challenge No. 66 - USE RIBBON or WASHI TAPE (I used ribbon)
  5. Simon Says Stamp - Monday challenge - GRUNGE IT UP
Next - this one was back in my "wheelhouse", being really CAS - I don't often use dies so, here was a perfect opportunity .....

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope
Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 13½cm x 9½cm
  • Piece of my masterboard cut to 13cm x 9cm
  • MFT numbers dies (MFT091 By the numbers) cut from one piece of the white card and laid over the masterboard
  • Hampton Art sentiment (from SCO170 Birthday set) stamped using MFT black licorice hybrid ink

Another card, hopefully you'll join me in thinking these are all a little bit different ...

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of DCWV textured plum coloured card, cut to mat
  • Snippet of my masterboard card and a snippet of DCWV textured light grey card (left over from my Wednesday card make) and die cut using MFT faux stitched nesting rectangle dies
  • Penny Black Iris image (from their Allegro set) stamped using MFT black licorice hybrid ink, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set, twice - to give gloss and texture

  5. Just Add Ink - challenge No. 397 - JUST ADD "H" .... my "H" was HEAT embossing!

And finally .... an ATC as I still had a little of my masterboard left, has to be said, there's really not enough left to make anything else!

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of my masterboard, cut to fit
  • That Special Touch "distressed dots" stencilled using white acrylic paint
  • Tim Holtz mini stencil from set #28, stencilled using Luna Lites ... (see below)
  • Stamplorations images (from Art Marks) stamped using Ranger Archival jet black and watering can inks

For those of you unfamiliar with the luna lites - this little pot of gorgeousness is a fab deep iridescent red and just glorious for adding depth and sheen. I've had mine for YEARS and I'm not even sure you can still obtain it. I looked at the label and it was originally produced by Stamp Oasis of Las Vegas, and an address on Sahara Avenue .... which just so happens to be very close to Viva Las Vegas stamps so I find myself wondering if they took over Stamp Oasis and whether they now produce these fab paints - might have to Google ... but, does anyone actually KNOW the answer?

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. More Mixed media - February 5th challenge - ANYTHING Mixed Media GOES + OPTIONAL TWIST TO USE RED
  2. Stamplorations - February challenge - PAINT IT RED
  3. Make My Monday - challenge No. 65 - MESSY BACKGROUNDS
  4. Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday challenge - MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND
  5. Three Muses - February 19th challenge - A LITTLE BIT OF GRUNGE

Hard to say which was my favourite really, as I enjoyed making all of them, thanks for stopping by and for persevering to the end of this post!

Welcome to my midweek post

Morning all,

Hope your week is coming along well.

After a hyperactive weekend at the ToC I've been avoiding it for a day or so - as I didn't want to wear it out!!! Today, I originally had just one ATC to share with you but recently found out that I don't make non specific occasion cards .... for emergencies like I had on Monday when I found out a friend had a fire at her home. Whilst I wanted to show support a "Get Well", "Good Luck", "Happy Birthday" or the like didn't quite cut it, you know what I found? JUST ONE non occasion specific make, fortunately in fairly uplifting colours so, off it went in the post and, memo to self .... make some more!

I hope this will brighten your day though you may well feel the need to break out the sunglasses!

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in both white and turquoise
  • Recollections image and sentiment (sorry but I appear to have lost the details of the name of the set) stamped on to white card snippet using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Kaisercraft mini grid image stamped on to the turquoise layer using Memento Bahama blue ink
  • Copic markers and Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour the image and background
  • Paper Artsy (from HTPX01) splatter image stamped using Ranger Archival monarch orange ink
  • Tsukineko gelly roll glitter gel pen (gold) for the crown and to add twinkle to the flower petals on her dress too

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Crafting From The Heart - challenge No. 195 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Pammie's Inky Pinkies - challenge No. 1807 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Creates and Makes - challenge No. 18 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Ike's World - challenge No. 105 - ANYTHING GOES/HIDDEN DESIRES .. who doesn't want to live as a princess in a fairy tale?
And on to a non occasion specific card, using just a generally uplifting sentiment

Morning and welcome to another fun filled week!

Morning all,

Least I HOPE it will prove to be fun filled!

I recently set up a swap on a forum I belong to, we didn't have that many sign up but the theme was "FLOWERS" and I set to making my batch of ATC's ..... I'm sharing them today as the batches were returned to the swapees and they should all have received them by now. Originally we had five sign ups but I started making my ATC's before sign up closed so I made two extra (because, obviously, I didn't need to make myself one!) .....

My batch of ATC's .. the same but different!
One of one design
And one of the other design
Materials used:
  • 6 ATC blanks
  • 6 snippets of white card plus snippets in lime, pink, blue and purple
  • My main design was stamped on to the white snippets using Paper Artsy JOFY sets JM13 and JM22 and Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour image
  • Anita's dimensional gloss applied to give texture and sheen and stardust stickles to add a bit of bling!
  • On the coloured matting layers I stamped the chevron image from Creative Expressions CEC851 around the outer edge, using Memento inks in: Paris dusk, bamboo leaves, rhubarb and tuxedo black

I'll be entering them for the following challenges:-
  1. Pixie's Crafty Workshop - challenge No. 320 - USE SNIPPETS (LOTS of them used on this project!)
  2. Gem of a Challenge - challenge No. 213 - SPRING FLOWERS
  3. Challenge Up Your Life - challenge No. 85 - SPRING FLOWERS
  4. StarStampz - February 15th challenge - MAKE IT GIRLY
  5. Jo's Scrap Shack - challenge No. 221 - ANYTHING GOES
Next ..... yes, you all knew it wouldn't be too long before another Christmas card appeared on this blog .. I don't want a repeat of the year I was making them right up until Christmas week! I decided to use some patterned paper, something I seldom think to do these days but ... I LIKE it! I also thought I'd watermark my pix with my blog address .... now I'm wishing I'd gone with a shorter address!

My card
And a close up of the image

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of navy card cut to 13.4cm x 9.6cm
  • One piece of white card and one piece of Christmas paper (from DCWV winter stack) cut to 12.9cm x 9.1cm
  • Two faux stitched nesting circles cut from snippets of white and navy card
  • Penny Black (12 Days of Christmas) image and sentiment along with Precious Remembrance Shop sentiment (Sketchy Christmas) stamped using Memento tuxedo black
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour, blended using Sansodor and a paper stump
  • Additionally I used a red sharpie (for the hat) and a Tsukineko gelly roll glitter pen in dark blue
  • Wink of Stella clear gel glitter brush pen used to bling it up a smidge
  • Double sided tape used to attach white grosgrain ribbon centrally top to bottom
  • Dimensional foam tape to attach my image panel over the grosgrain ribbon

I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-

  4. Jingle Belles - February 9th challenge - A COLOURING WE WILL GO
  5. Chrimbo Crackers - challenge No. 152 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES

And, for those of you following the progress of my crochet blanket .... I finished it on Thursday of last week, one week after I started it. I got on pretty well but was definitely flagging towards the end. Sadly, I ran out of wool which kind of limited its size ... I have two tiny amounts of both colours left but not enough for another row - so, I'm calling it done, it's approximately 6'2" square which kind of suits us.

Materials used:
  • 4 x 400g aran wool (from Aldi whilst it was on special at £3.99 per ball) in burgundy and cream
  • Size 6.0mm crochet hook
  • Stitches used were chain stitch, trebles and a row of double crochet around the outer edge, to form a border
So now we're toastie at the Purple Palace!

Another lazy Sunday comes around ....

Morning all

Been having a pretty busy old time at the ToC lately so decided to post this morning, hope this card will brighten up your day!

Over on facebook, the lovely Karen (this is her blog, not that she's particularly active there these days but she IS talented) is keeping us all on track with our Christmas cards by posting a theme each week (on a Sunday) to ensure we should have at least 50 come November! This past week the theme has been ROUND and I've only just made it in time as she normally posts around lunchtime so I'm sneaking in under the wire. It's not a challenge as there are no winners and no prizes - it's just to keep us all on track, thanks Karen.

My "ROUND" card

The front, back and "inside" of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • 12½cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Snippets of card in both white and red - one of each for the sentiment and greeting panels and one of each die cut in to both faux stitched and fancy circles (for my themed card)
  • Paper Artsy reindeer (from ZA19), Hero Arts sentiment (from CL343) and Precious Remembrance Shop sentiment (from Sketchy Christmas) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Copic markers used to colour
  • The PRS sentiment was mounted on to red card using dimensional foam tape and then again on to red card (again, using dimensional foam tape) to act as a "stopper" for my easel card - think this makes it a  hand delivery card!
  • Stardust stickles and Anita's dimensional gloss used to enhance the image

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Chrimbo Crackers - challenge No. 152 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  2. Christmas Cards All Year Round - February challenge - MAINLY RED
  3. Happy Little Stampers - February Christmas challenge - ANYTHING GOES (optional twist of HEARTS, which I didn't use)
  4. The Merry Christmas Challenge - challenge No. 7 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES (+ optional twist which I DID use, of REINDEER)
  5. ABC of Christmas - February 7th challenge - "C" is for CLEAN and "D" is for DISTRESS .. I went with CLEAN

Yesterday I gaily posted two same but different cards for the TWOFERS challenge, I was so pleased with the way they turned out. I photographed and blogged them, found other challenges to enter with them. Didn't realise my mistake - UNTIL the lovely Pat pointed out (in a nice way) that the rules state they must be two DIFFERENT cards, using the same stamps but for two DIFFERENT occasions and I had made mine both anniversary cards - DOH! But thank you so much Pat, appreciate it. Nothing for it but to return to the ToC and try again ... I'm no quitter!

So, Darnell, here's round two! Actually this was round three ... it's not rocket science but .. first time round I made them both for the same occasion and then the second time round I forgot it was hearts! DOH! Still, I now have a whole bunch of cards I wouldn't have had otherwise!!!!

Third time's the charm! Hearts - check, different occasions - check!
I'll be entering these two for the HEARTS challenge #2 over at Twofers and also for up to four other challenges, here are the details for each card below
